Wendy balances the motivation with the seriousness of fitness and maybe most of all the friendless and fun element of going to a gym. The small classes are great, the personal attention is also great; you just feel you belong to this gym. Without a doubt my best find in 2011.

“I have been training with in touch studios for six months now and I have lost nearly four stone and dropped three dress sizes! There's been no fancy diets just eating well and regular training. The sessions have been perfect for me. To this day it still amazes me how much you can achieve in a 45 minute session - gone are the days of slogging it out for hours at a conventional gym and not knowing what you're doing. From advice about eating habits to a motivational pep talk when you need in touch studios have been a great source of personal advice and support to me. Yes, you've got to put the effort in, and no, they can't do it for you, but they can certainly help you well along the way.

“Having started a family over six years ago it had proved difficult for me to find the time to train and indeed find a gym that was flexible enough to align its advice with what I needed within the constraints of my lifestyle. However, having discovered in touch studios at the end of 2010 I have enjoyed a bespoke training programme tailored to my needs and ability. The studio helped identify areas that I should focus on and have developed a training programme that suits my circumstances. The sessions are varied, fun and rewarding and I now genuinely feel fitter and more active. No two sessions feel the same. The training leaves you hungry to attend more and gives you the confidence to push yourself hard, safe in the knowledge that you will be well supported and encouraged by the staff - so much so that I have recently signed up for a Half Marathon.

“I feel training with in touch studios has helped me to actually build up a noticeable improvement and found the effect to be highly complementary to my other lifestyle activities. "Fitness has always been important to me. From school days when sport was my escapism and only enjoyment to later life jogging through cities and countryside home and abroad as well as retaining my fitness through the gym. Keeping fit has kept me sane – it's helped me deal with the stresses of life, it's kept my energy levels up and it's got me out of the house on those miserable winter days. So when I found out I was pregnant amongst the excitement of it all a little panic button went off: how was I to keep up with my regular gym, weights, running, and pilates? Would I just become an unfit, unhappy blob?! Determined not to lose it all I struggled through terrible morning sickness in an attempt to stick with a regular gym routine. However, it soon became apparent that I was no longer enjoying the competitive gym spirit. It was no longer fun beating someone else to the treadmill, stepper or bike, or schlepping across the gym through the testosterone haze to find the equipment I wanted to use. It became a chore to fight through the after-work crowds with dumb bells, bosu and ball to find a quiet spot to exercise. I needed a solution but wasn't getting any help from the gym staff who didn't seem interested in a pregnant lady who was suddenly clueless about what she could or couldn't use, and looked like death to boot! That was when I heard about in touch studios. When collapsed in a chair at my friend's house feeling pathetically sorry for myself she told me about the pregnancy fitness sessions. Not knowing whether it would be the solution or not I went along to see the team and instantly knew it was exactly what I was looking for. They not only knew what exercises were safe when you are pregnant, but had built a class around it, they also understood my level of fitness and how I could still incorporate some of cardio and ab work I enjoyed. Since then I haven't looked back (and haven't been back to my old gym!).
I go to Preggers Fitness every week and also have the occasional one to one session. Being part of a class of no more than 8 other pregnant ladies is really motivating especially on those days you just feel too tired to go but you manage to get there by knowing the others could be feeling the same! I also don't know any pregnant women in my group of friends so the class is a great way to share fears and joys with others who are either at the same stage, ahead or behind in their pregnancies. It's comforting, reassuring and also fun!” |
